Men's Skin Health - Dermaplaning For Men? But of Course! ◮◍

We often are asked the question whether guys can get a Dermaplane treatment considering their coarser facial hair and beards. The answer is, Yes!

Dermaplaning is a non-invasive skin rejuvenation treatment which offers some of the same exfoliating benefits as microdermabrasion, however, there is quite a difference. Dermaplaning offers less discomfort and also removes vellus hairs or “peach fuzz” from your face, leaving your skin smooth all over.

Why is this treatment necessary? Because the buildup of dead skin and microscopic hairs can make your complexion appear dull, flaky, and can even cause breakouts due to clogged hair follicles and pores. Which is why this form of mechanical exfoliation is essential for maintaining an even, healthy glow. Additionally, Dermaplaning allows product penetration. This ensures that your products can enter the skin without any barriers

What if you have a beard? If you happen to have a beard we are still able to exfoliate the surrounding facial and neck areas that are hair free. We treat the forehead, cheeks, chin, and neck so there are ample areas that can be treated. In addition, this treatment is ideal for men suffering from folliculitis and can be combined with a chemical peel or an enzyme peel and LED Light Therapy.

How can a guy prepare for this treatment? Men would need to shave the day of treatment. In addition, they would not be able to shave until 7 days post-treatment and will be asked to refrain from using BHA or AHA's for 7 days post-treatment as well. Any form of acids or retinol could potentially cause the skin temporary damage and irritation.

So the takeaway is that for all you gents interested in dermaplaning it doesn't matter whether you have a beard, or you are smooth shaven you can still benefit from this specialized treatment.
